The Seedance 2.5 API on seedance2-5.com lets your server create videos and images, paid for with your website account credits. Pricing in the docs:

  • Seedance 2.5 Lite costs 10 credits per output second.
  • An 8-second 720p Lite request "currently costs 80 credits."

Generation is not free. The docs say "queries, quotes and downloads do not incur generation credits," so you can check the exact cost with POST /quotes before you generate.

What is the Seedance 2.5 API?

It is an HTTP API with base URL https://seedance2-5.com/api/v1. You authenticate with a Bearer API key, and every generation runs asynchronously: create the job, poll its status, then download the output. It also exposes other models available on the site.

How much does the Seedance 2.5 API cost?

The docs state:

  • "Seedance 2.5 Lite costs 10 credits per output second."
  • "The first five reference images are included; each additional image costs 7 credits."
  • "Other prices depend on model parameters and follow the website." See pricing.
  • Credits are reserved before submission, and "a verified failure refunds once."

What are the rate limits?

These limits apply per account and are shared by all API keys on it.

How do I make my first Seedance 2.5 API call?

  1. Create a key. Go to Settings → API keys. The key is shown only once. Requests with an Origin header are rejected, so call the API from a server, not a browser (Authentication).
  2. Get a quote. Send POST /quotes with your generation body. The response returns cost_credits and doesn't generate or charge anything.
  3. Create the job. Send POST /videos with an Idempotency-Key header and an optional max_cost_credits cap. A 202 response means accepted, not finished.
  4. Poll. Call GET /generations/{id} no more than once every 10 seconds, using the same key that created the job.
  5. Download. When the status is success, read outputs[].url. The URLs expire within 15 minutes, and media is kept for 14 days (Async generations).

Can I use the Seedance 2.5 API in n8n?

Yes. The n8n guide describes this flow:

Trigger → Quote → Create → Save ID → Wait 20–30 s → Get status → loop while pending/processing → Download on success.

Store the key as a Header Auth credential, not in node fields. If you're unsure whether a request went through, retry with the original idempotency key instead of creating a new job.

FAQ

Is the Seedance 2.5 API free? No. Generations use credits. Quotes, queries and downloads don't use generation credits.

Does a failed generation cost credits? According to the docs, a verified failure is refunded once. An uncertain task isn't refunded automatically just because time has passed.

Can I call it from frontend code? No. Requests with an Origin header are rejected.

What are the Seedance 2.5 API rate limits? Per account: 1 active generation, 10 generation and upload requests per minute and 1,000 per day, 60 reads and quotes per minute and 20,000 per day, and a 2,000-credit daily generation budget. Daily windows reset in UTC.
